In the previous parts, we explored how materials like metal and acetate shape the look and feel of a frame.
But material alone is not what defines modern eyewear. Function matters just as much.
One area where functionality has evolved significantly, yet is often overlooked is the clip-on system.
Clip-on lenses have traditionally been seen as a practical solution: a simple way to turn optical glasses into sunglasses. But in many cases, they come with compromises. Stability can be limited, alignment imperfect, and visible magnets can interrupt the clean design of the frame.
At Sossa Eyewear, we saw this as an opportunity to rethink the system.
Rethinking Stability and Precision
One of the key challenges with clip-on lenses is ensuring they stay perfectly aligned and secure throughout the day.
To address this, we developed frames that incorporate four and, in selected models, even six precisely positioned magnets. This multi-point magnetic system improves balance, alignment and overall stability, creating a more reliable and comfortable experience for the wearer.

At the same time, we paid close attention to aesthetics.
The magnets are carefully integrated and hidden within the frame construction, allowing the design to remain clean, minimal and uninterrupted. The functionality is enhanced — without compromising the visual identity of the frame.
Going Beyond the Standard Solution
For one of our models, we took stability even further.
We introduced a subtle hook detail on the bridge, designed to provide additional support and ensure the clip-on sits perfectly in place. It is a small element, almost unnoticeable at first glance, but it makes a meaningful difference in everyday use

This is the kind of detail that reflects our approach: solving real problems through thoughtful design.
From Function to Expression
But we didn’t stop at improving performance. We also asked a different question: Why should clip-ons only be functional?
Traditionally, clip-on lenses are dark, often black or grey and when applied, they can hide the colors and character of the frame beneath them. So we went a step further.
We developed colorful clip-on lenses designed to complement the base frame rather than cover it. Instead of taking away from the design, they enhance it — allowing the original colors, materials and details to remain present.
The result is not just a functional addition, but an extension of the frame itself.
A New Perspective on Clip-Ons
At Sossa Eyewear, innovation is not about adding complexity. It is about refining the experience.
By improving stability, integrating hidden magnetic systems, and introducing color as part of the clip-on concept, we’ve transformed a traditionally simple feature into something more considered, more versatile and more aligned with modern eyewear design.
Because a frame should not only adapt to light.
It should adapt to the person wearing it.
